PBC Special Anti-scale compound
Note: There are two different versions of PBC from Rose mill. This is the high temp (and more expensive) version that protects to 2250F
This PBC anti-scale compound protects your blade from decarb and scale damage to 2250F degree during your heat treat with out tool wrap (heat treat foil).
You can get this from Rose Mill in a 25lb pail for $274 shipped which is what I did. I am bagging up 1lb bags of this stuff to sell for those that can't afford or will never use a 25lb bucket.
To use this stuff, during your heat treat, heat your blade to 750F, take it out and sprinkle this liberally across the blade. It will 'melt' onto the blade. Put it back in and finish your heat treat. Boil it off when you are done with your quench. Make sure you practice a time or two. There is a little learning curve in getting the complete coverage you will need.
PBC Special is for parts treated from 1650-2250 F (not to be used with ATS 34, S-7, or other steels high in chromium, nickel, or vanadium).
